President George Lai led a group of 17 CCCG Delegates to attend the 8th World Summit of Chinese Entrepreneurs held during the period October 21 – 23, 2011. The venue for the Summit was the Grand Ballroom of the lavish Venetian Hotel in Macau. At the Summit, Keynote Addresses were delivered by Distinguished Speakers from Macau, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan. Some 1000 participants from all over the world attended this year's Summit. In coordination with Mr. Ken Lujan, USSBA Guam Branch Manager, President George Lai of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam hosted a luncheon in honor of Ms. Yvonne Lee of the U.S. Small Business Administration from San Francisco on September 20, 2011. Ms. Yvonne Lee is U.S. President Barak Obama's Appointee to serve as Regional Advocate for Region IX that covers Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada. The luncheon which was held at Samurai was attended by most of the recent CCCG USSBA Award Recipients and several future hopefuls.
CCCG Donates Over $20,000.00 to Japan Earthquake - Tsunami Relief Fund

At the Check Presentation held on March 21, 2011, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam made a donation of over $20,000.00 to the Japan Earthquake – Tsunami Relief Fund. Spearheaded by CCCG President George Lai, generous donations came from many CCCG members. The check was presented to Japan Consul General Yoshiyuki Kimura and Japan Club of Guam President Toyoshito Yoneyama as CCCG BOD members and Japan Club BOD members as well as Former First Lady Joann Camacho looked on. The donation is deeply appreciated by the representatives of the Consulate General of Japan and the Japan Club of Guam.
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam hosted a welcome luncheon in cooperation with the United Chinese Association of Guam at Roy's Restaurant, in honor of the Taiwan Delegation on Sunday, March 20, 2011. The Taiwan Delegation was comprised of representatives from construction companies and other related industries in the ROC. The Head of the Taiwan Delegation was Deputy Director-General Winston Wen-yi Chen, Department of North American Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Taipei. CCCG President George Lai, UCAG President Joseph Hsu, and TECO Director-General Paul Wang gave welcoming speeches to some 65 people who attended the luncheon. The CCCG Executive Vice President helped organize the successful luncheon in coordination with TAITRA Director Angela Chang.
At an Appreciation Luncheon hosted by the Salvation Army of Guam on March 11, 2011, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam received a Community Partnership Award. President George Lai accepted the Award in the presence of several CCCG Directors and Committee Chairs. The CCCG's contribution to the Toy Drive really made a big difference. In December, 2010, the CCCG donated more than 1000 toys to the needy children of Guam, worth more than $20,000.00. Last spring, CCCG won the highly coveted Volunteer of the Year Award from the Salvation Army. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to another successful Miracle Toy Drive in 2010, spearheaded by the CCCG. The Miracle Toy Drive Committee was chaired by CCCG Director Jack Chan.
Mr. Chuck Wu celebrates his 80th birthday and 40th Anniversary of Pacific Sunny Holdings

Mr. Chuck Wu, the founder of Pacific Sunny Holdings, celebrated his 80th Birthday and the 40th Anniversary of his company during his return to Guam from Taiwan in March, 2011. For the pioneering work of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Wu which encompasses many years on Guam, they were honored by Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo, Governor Eddie Calvo, Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio, Speaker Judy Won Pat and other Senators of the Guam Legislature. Congratulations! Mr. Fong Wu, Mr. Albert Wu, Mr. John Wu, and Mr. Tom Wu, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Wu, organized Mr. Chuck Wu's 80th birthday party which was held at the Sunny Plaza.
The CCCG Board of Directors welcomed the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit at the CCCG Office on February 4, 2011. Students from the Guam Chinese School performed the traditional Lion Dance at the start of the celebration.
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam hosted its annual New Year Gala at Leo Palace Resort on Saturday, January 29, 2011. With the theme of Golden Rabbit, President George Lai welcomed the arrival of the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Rabbit with CCCG Board Members and nearly 600 guests. Many island dignitaries, including Governor Eddie Calvo, First Lady Christine Calvo, Speaker Judy Won Pat, TECO Director-General Paul Wang, Japan Consul – General Yoshiyuki Kimura, joined the New Year celebration. The evening was filled with great entertainment with its highlight being the Chinese Costume Contest. The New Year Gala Committee was chaired by Mr. Peter Lai. Xie Xie to all the sponsors and Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái to everyone!
Season's Greetings to all of you! On behalf of the entire Board of Directors and Committee Chairs of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to each one of you for your generosity and kindess in supporting CCCG's Miracle Toy Drive this year. Within the first week after the call for your assistance was made, we were able to quickly meet the initial goal of receiving 800 toys or the equivalent cash value. As of today, we have exceeded the initial goal by nearly 200 toys, totaling over 1,000 toys/gifts worth over $20,000.00 to be given to needy children at Christmas. Our mission for the Miracle Drive has been "Let's not leave any child without toys this Christmas."
In my capacity as President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam, it is my great honor and pleasure to extend an invitation to you for the presentation of toys to the Salvation Army at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at their Community Hall located in Tiyan. The CCCG Delegation headed by President George Lai attended the 7th World Summit of Chinese Entrepreneurs held during the period October 22 – 24 in Macau. There were approximately 1,000 participants representing more than 30 countries at the Summit this year. All the major regions of the world were represented – Asia, Europe, North and South America, Africa, and Oceania. The Summit was successful in getting together Chinese entrepreneurs from near and far. The 2010 Moon Festival Mixer -- Another Smashing Success!

The CCCG held its annual Moon Festival Mixer at the Government House on September 16, 2010. Attended by several hundred CCCG Members, island dignitaries, and friends, this year's Moon Festival Mixer was the biggest and best Mixer ever. The Mixer was supported by 45 VIP Sponsors from the community. Many companies and individuals donated more than $15,000 worth of raffle prizes, including two Business Class Airline Tickets kindly donated by Continental/United Airlines and one Airline Ticket generously donated by China Airlines. Governor Felix Camacho gave a moving Keynote Address followed by our beloved CCCG President George Lai's Address. The Mixer Committee members included Peter Lai (Chairman), Vice President Benson Au-Yeung, Director Gary Sung, Director Jack Chan, Committee Co-Chairman Edson Lai, Committee Chairman Leo Tsang, Committee Chairwoman Xiaoling Tao, Board Secretary Pelin Randall and Presidential Advisor Dr. Hiro Kurashina.
Ms. Anna Kao, the Founder and President of Genghis Khan Furniture, was honored by Guam Leaders on the occasion of her store's 40th Anniversary on September 19, 2010. There must have been several hundred friends, customers, and CCCG BOD members present to join the celebration. Ms. Anna Kao received the title of Honorary Ambassador of Goodwill for Guam from Governor Felix Camacho and First Lady Joann Camacho. The Speaker and Senators of the Guam Legislature presented a Legislative Resolution. Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo presented a Congressional Recognition to Ms. Anna Kao. The Girl Scouts of America Guam Branch also presented a Certificate of Appreciation. CCCG joins all the leaders of Guam in extending its congratulations to Ms. Anna Kao who served as Past Vice President of CCCG.

CCCG President George Lai graciously hosted a luncheon in honor of Ms. Jane Sawyer, USSBA Hawaii District Director, at Samurai in Tumon Bay on September 8, 2010. Ms. Sawyer is visiting Guam to coordinate various SBA activities with Mr. Ken Lujan, USSBA Guam Branch Manager. Present at the luncheon were most of the present and past USSBA Award winners who are active membes of CCCG. President George Lai, Executive Committee Chairman Alfred Lam, Vice President Benson Au-Yeung, Director Gary Sung, Director Jack Chan, Committee Chairwoman Linda Tung, First Hawaiian Bank Senior Vice President Laura Dacanay, and Security Title President Kim Young. The Top Volunteer of the Year 2009 Award was given to CCCG in recognition of outstanding contribution and support to the Salvation Army Guam Corps in conjunction with the Miracle Toy Drive during the Christmas Season in 2009. Nearly 2200 toys were donated by the CCCG to needy children. The Award Ceremony took place at the Salvation Army in April, 2010.

Mama Shirley Lai Wins the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award

The late Mama Shirley Lai, the Founder of Shirley’s Coffee Shop on Guam and in the CNMI, at the Gala Dinner held at the Hyatt Regency Guam on April 24, 2010, won the highly prestigious 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given annually by the First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business to an outstanding businesswoman in recognition of her lifetime success in business and significant contributions to the community through charity and other humanistic services. The award was accepted by all the Lai Children on behalf of their mother.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has given highly coveted awards to the following CCCG members in three separate categories including:
1) 2010 Small Business Person of the Year to Mr. Fong Wu, President of Sunny Wholesale and Pago Bay Resort. Mr. Fong Wu serves as CCCG Vice President.
2) 2010 SBA Minority Small Business Champion of the Year to Mr. Jack W. W. Chan, Vice President and co-owner, Kwong Hwa Trading Co. (Guam) inc. dba Home Mart. Mr. Jack W. W. Chan serves as a Director on the CCCG Board of Directors and Chairman of the CCCG Membership Committee.
3) 2010 SBA Women in Business Champion of the Year to Mrs. Linda L. Tung, President of GIT International Tours Inc. Mrs. Linda L. Tung serves as Chairwoman of the CCCG Tourism Committee.
An Official Ceremony by the US SBA Guam Branch for the above awards was held at the Multi-Purpose Conference Center at the newly completed Latte of Freedom at Adelup, presided by Governor Felix Camacho, First Lady Joann Camacho, U.S. Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo, and Mr. Ken Lujan, USSBA Guam Branch Manager. A Reception at the Government House followed in the evening of April 1, 2010.

For his outstanding contributions to the development of sports, especially football, on Guam, Mr. Alexandre Rego was given the Ancient Order of Chamori Award from Lt. Governor Mike Cruz at the Award Ceremony of the 2010 Quality Cup Tournament held at the Hilton Hotel Marianas Ballroom on February 28, 2010. Present at the Award Ceremony were his lovely wife, family members and their friends from Hong Kong and Macau.

CCCG Vice President Richard K. Lai Plays a Major Role in EAFF Championship Games in 2010

CCCG Vice President Richard K. Lai played a major role in the East Asian Football Federation’s Championship Games held at the National Stadium in Tokyo in February, 2010. Mr. Richard K. Lai is the Finance Committee Chairman of the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF). He is an ex-Commissioner of both EAFF and Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Mr. Jerry Tan represented the CNMI at the EAFF Championship Games in Tokyo with his family. Others who were present were CCCG President George Lai and his lovely wife Debbie, Mr. Richard Lai’s family, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Tan, Dr. and Mrs. Will Cann, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Rego of Hong Kong/Macau, Dr. Rebecca Stephenson, and Dr. Hiro Kurashina.
On behalf of the 2010 CCCG Directory Committee, we are most pleased to inform you that the new CCCG Directory for the Year of the Tiger has been successfully printed in Hong Kong
and the shipment has arrived ahead of time on Guam. The Directory Committee began its work on August 19, 2009 and systematically carried out all necessary tasks until its completion.
The Committee members met on a regular basis to plan and perform complex activities step by step. Ad solicitation, article preparation, design work, booklet layout, photo selection, and all other tasks were coordinated among the members of the Committee in a professional and friendly manner. It has been a great privilege to be able to work with so many dedicated and talented people along the way. Having met and exceeded the goal for ad solicitation ($50,000), the next goal was the production of 1500 copies of the new Directory in time for the 2010 Gala Chinese New Year Party to be held on February 5, 2010. We are happy to report, once again, that CCCG will be able to distribute the new 2010 CCCG Membership Directory to its members at the Gala at the Hyatt. Advance copies will be circulated to BOD members at our next Board meeting next week.

Historic Power Lunch: Leaders of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam meet with the Leaders of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Guam
On August 5, 2009, the leaders of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam hosted a “Power Lunch” to meet with the leaders of the “Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Guam” (Department of Commerce within the Japan Club of Guam) at the VIP Room of Samurai Restaurant in Tumon Bay. During this landmark meeting by the leaders of the two organizations, many issues of mutual interest, including future cooperation, were discussed. CCCG President George Lai and Japan Club President Takaharu Sakurai made a friendly handshake at the Power Lunch.
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam held its successful and memorable Spring 2009 Sunset Mixer on May 20, 2009 at Government House. Nearly 30 VIP Sponsors gave their generous support for the event. Some 350 people were in attendance, including many CCCG members, island dignitaries, and community leaders. Thanks to all the VIP sponsors and all those who provided their kind assistance. Special appreciation is extended to Governor Felix Camacho and First Lady Joann Camacho for making the Government House available for the wonderful event. During the Mixer, new CCCG members received their membership certificates. Kudos to the CCCG Program Committee chaired by Mr. Peter Lai.
Meeting Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou at the Presidential Palace

Officers of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam, President George Lai, Executive Vice President Albert Wu, Vice President Fong Wu, as well as Presidential Advisor Dr. Hiro Kurashina, and Director Alice Chou of UCAG, were members of the Delegation led by Governor Felix Camacho of Guam to Taiwan during May 13 -17, 2009. President George Lai and Vice President Fong Wu are both Ambassadors of Goodwill of Guam appointed by Governor Felix Camacho. The fifteen-member Delegation also included First Lady Joann Camacho and members of GEDCA, Guam Museum Association and the Office of the Governor. The main mission of the visit included reaffirming the Sister City Relationship between Taipei and Hagatna that was established by the late Governor Carlos Camacho in 1973; promoting Guam for business opportunities; and enhancing Guam as an attractive destination for Taiwanese tourists traveling abroad. The Delegation visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou, the Taipei City Mayor's Office, the Taiwan Power Company, Taipei International Trade Center, the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund, and the Port of Kaohsiung. The Delegation was courteously received by the leaders of Taiwan at all places called upon during the visit.
Mr. Fong S. Wu, Vice President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam and the Current President of the Guam Chinese School Foundation, was honored by Governor Felix Camacho and First Lady Joann Camacho at a dinner reception held on March 23, 2009 at the Government House. Mr. Fong S. Wu has been active in promoting goodwill and friendly relations between Guam, USA, and Taiwan, Republic of China, for many decades. Most recently, he coordinated the successful Chinese Gourmet Food Festival held at the Sheraton Laguna Hotel in Tamuning on March 22, 2009. The event attracted more than 1,000 people who were there to enjoy some ninety-one traditional and modern Chinese gourmet food items. Taiwan media were there to record the successful Chinese Gourmet Food Festival.
Mr. Fong S. Wu received the title of "Ambassador of Goodwill" from Governor Felix Camacho and First Lady Joann Camacho at the appreciation dinner reception held at the Government House for his outstanding contributions as a civic leader of the Guam Chinese Community.
Hundreds of people turned out yesterday for the Chinese Gourmet Festival at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort and Spa. More than 700 people attended last night’s event, event coordinated Fong S. Wu said. "We're very appreciative of the turnout."
CCCG announces it's New Officers, Directors & Committee Chairs

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam elected its new Board of Directors at its annual meeting conducted at the Sandcastle on January 21, 2009. The Board met for its first meeting on January 30,2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the CCCG Conference Room. The following individuals are the new Officers, Directors, and Committee Chairs of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for 2009 to 2011.
The presence of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce overshadowed all other groups from Guam at the reception. Some people were lucky enough to shake hands with the Honorable Ike Skelton. As Guam moves ahead with the military buildup, the CODEL reception was another important milestone along the paths of economic development on Guam.
It is with a great deal of pride that I announce the election results for the new Board of Directors of the
Guam Chinese Chamber of Commerce. The election was held during the Annual Meeting on January 21st in
conjunction with the Chinese New Year Party celebrating the Year of the Ox.
